RTO vs RPO

RTO and RPO Are Two Critical Measures in Disaster Recovery

RTO and RPO are two critical measures when considering your data back-up and disaster recovery solutions.  RTO stands for Recovery Time Objective. RPO stands for Recovery Point Objective.

RTO is the amount of time you’ve set as necessary for your operations to be back up and running after a disaster.  So if the small fire strikes at 3PM and your RTO is 4 hours, you’re team is back up on the network at 7PM.

RPO is the last point you need to recover your data from and is directly related to the last time you backed up your data.  So if your data is backed up every 4 hours, your RPO is 4 hours.   To learn a little more, watch our intro video.
